La Cenerentola

IMG_6313.JPG

Rossini’s La Cenerentola was Glass Light Opera’s second full-scale opera, touring to Newcastle, Glasgow and London in summer 2026.

Directed by Daisie Sitlani and musically directed by Toby Stanford, the production relocated Rossini’s Cinderella story to a contemporary corporate office, transforming its world of status, hierarchy and social ambition into one of CEOs, interns and office politics.

Designed to adapt to three very different venues, the production incorporated elements of each space into its staging rather than relying on a traditional touring set. Modern, conversational surtitles brought the comedy and immediacy of Rossini’s text directly to contemporary audiences.

The Afterparty

The Afterparty was an experimental opera scenes project created and rehearsed in just 48 hours, bringing a collection of repertoire together to form one continuous theatrical story.

Set in the aftermath of a London house party, individual scenes became encounters between characters as the night unravelled — weaving different operas, composers and musical worlds into a single narrative.

Directed by Daisie Sitlani and musically directed by Georgia Cassidy, the project explored how existing operatic repertoire can be given new dramatic meaning through context, collaboration and fast-paced theatrical experimentation.

Così fan tutte

Glass Light Opera’s first full-scale opera, Mozart’s Così fan tutte, was presented at Network Theatre, London in April 2026.

Directed by Daisie Sitlani and musically directed by Daniel Pugh Bevan, Mozart’s story of love, loyalty and deception was reimagined inside a heightened Y2K high school, transforming its relationships and social games into a world of teenage friendship, popularity, jealousy and first love.

Contemporary staging and modern surtitles sat alongside Mozart’s original score, creating an accessible and immediate production while retaining the musical and emotional heart of the opera.

In This House

In This House was the project that began Glass Light Opera: a collection of operatic scenes woven together through an original overarching story and presented across Newcastle, Saint-Paul-de-Vence and London.

Directed by Daisie Sitlani and musically directed by Toby Stanford, the production placed repertoire from different operas and composers into a shared dramatic world, allowing familiar scenes to take on new relationships and meanings.

The project established an approach that continues to shape Glass Light’s work today: concept-led storytelling, collaboration between emerging artists and finding new, accessible ways of bringing opera to audiences.
